Who we are, what we do and why
Who we are
A registered association founded in 2022 by someone who was sexually abused as a child. Today we are backed by a council whose members include two foundations, a psychologist, a therapist and an expert in children’s online safety.
What we do
We make the #odvážný show, visit schools to give talks, publish books and train parents. We are preparing Nikomu to neříkej, a nationwide campaign. We refer people in need to trusted professional help.
Why
More than a hundred interviews revealed one thing: almost none of those people realised as children that something was wrong. Abuse does not begin with violence but with the words “don’t tell anyone”. A child who knows their boundaries has a chance to speak up in time.
Why we changed our name and statutes
The association was founded in 2022 as Klubovna Naděje, after the book where it all began. Over time we shifted our focus from helping people who had already been hurt to children who have not yet been harmed. The new name, Skutečný kamarád (“Real Friend”), carries the message we give children: a real friend never asks you to keep secrets.
Our new statutes of 14 September 2026 placed the association under an Association Council of partners and experts, so that no single person decides its direction. Our company ID (IČO), bank account and legal continuity remain unchanged.

Tomáš Paprštein

the association’s supreme bodySets the association’s direction and oversees the Presidium; each member has one vote. Its members include two foundations and experts in psychology, therapy and online safety.
Nadace Křižovatka
A Brno-based foundation that has been equipping neonatal and children’s wards in Czech hospitals with breathing monitors since 1995 and runs a network of loan points for parents of at-risk babies. It raises awareness of sudden infant death syndrome and of how to reduce the risk. nadacekrizovatka.cz

Nadácia Križovatka (SK)
Its Slovak sister foundation, established in Bratislava in 2008. A therapist and educator with more than 25 years of practice, working with parents and with survivors of sexual violence. Co-author of the books Klubovna Naděje, Když se naštve chameleon and Proč se bojí selátko (all in Czech), and a trainer on webinars for parents.
PhDr. Michala Bojarski, Ph.D.
A psychologist and graduate of the Faculty of Arts at Charles University, and a lecturer at the Prague University of Economics and Business and at Metropolitan University Prague. Her work focuses on media psychology and respectful parenting. With us, she provides professional oversight of our content for children and parents.
Martin Kožíšek
Heads the Safer Internet Centre of the CZ.NIC association, which coordinates children’s online safety in the Czech Republic and runs the STOPonline.cz hotline. He previously founded the Seznam se bezpečně project. With us, he is an expert adviser on online risks.

MINIMALIZACE OHROŽENÝCH counselling service
Under a memorandum signed in November 2022, Cesta z krize, z. ú. provides counselling on its public helplines for people who turn to us. The service runs in Czech, 24/7, free of charge and anonymously, by phone, email and chat. It helps a child at risk, an adult who is worried about a child, and adult victims of abuse and violence, at every stage: from “I’m afraid to talk about it” to dissatisfaction with the way an institution handled the case.

In May 2026 Cesta z krize warned that, owing to a shortfall in state budget funding, it might have to reduce the operation of both helplines in the autumn and shut them down at the end of the year. As of 30 September 2026 both are running 24/7. You can support them at cestazkrize.net.
The reach we already have
The #odvážný show has been on YouTube since April 2024. In two and a half years, with no advertising budget, it has grown into a channel where abuse is talked about openly, with almost 25,000 subscribers.
